I was able to get permission to participate with the contestants using an actual asset for our game <a href="http://titanquestgame.com" target="_blank">Titan Quest</a>.<br />

During the course of the challenge I was asked about my technique for texturing hair. I made this Hair Demo to show how I hand painted all of it:<br />

It’s in .swf format as that was the smallest file size versus quality I could put together. Simply download the zip and open with your web browser (you need Shockwave installed) or with a Shockwave player. I’m working on getting an .avi hosted somewhere other than my server. <img src="http://forums.cgsociety.org/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="" class="inlineimg" /><br />
This was thrown together real quick. It’s in real time and simply shows a few techniques for achieving different types of hair and fur with some custom brushes. It’s basically the technique I learned from this great tutorial:<br />

	<title>Ghost Recon 2 Cinematic Head Textures</title>

	<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://features.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/1460/1460_1100979051_small.jpg"><br><br>Ghost Recon 2 has shipped for the Xbox, so I thought I’d show the work I did through Streamline Studios on the cinematics. I did the texturing for these high poly heads. Each head consist of a diffuse, bump, and spec map. Since I’ve been a game artist for so long (and used to painting in all the details), I really had to retrain myself to be much more subtle. That being said I think it’s pretty obvious which where my earlier attempts and which were done closer to the end of the project. I really had a lot of fun with these and learned a lot from the experience. Definitely something I want to do more of. I’m not sure if the modeler wants to be openly credited or not but as soon as I find out I’ll be sure to post his name and portfolio. He kicks major ass!<br />

	<title>Character Concept Study</title>

Iron Lore Entertainment(the company I work for) recently purchased the entire run of analog DVD's from Gnomon Workshop <a href="http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com" target="_blank">http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com</a>. I just made it through the Iain McCaig set and wanted to create a character study in the same composition he demonstrates in the DVD's. A body study and a head study.<br />
As far as any other influence with the direction I took, just over a year ago I turned down an offer to work on Prince of Persia Warrior Within. This was extremely hard for me to do because it’s been a dream of mine to work on a game like that. I just wanted to give him a bit of a feel of that series.<br />
